History of Days of Our Lives

Days of our Lives has been on NBC Television since 1965 when it was first introduced to the viewing audience. It is currently the only soap opera that NBC Television is running. The show focuses on a family of doctors in the same way that most soap operas focus on one or two main families. The plots take place in Salem and include love, divorce, infidelity and psychological dramas. Doctors in Days of our Lives also work in mental hospitals giving the plots a juicy subtext.

They have received criticism at times in its long life for taking on some unrealistic storylines including the supernatural. While fans either loved or hated the strange plot twists, the show continued to produce major awards from its talented cast of characters.

At one time the show was not seen as continuing past 2009, but it has currently been given an extended stay through till the end of 2010. The families of Days of our Lives focus on the Hortons, the original core family, and the more recently introduced Bradys and DiMera families and all of their tragedies, romances and heartbreak.

The show’s supernatural twist has taken on possession and there have been psychological terrors as the town is stalked by madmen killers. While some may criticize the show for bringing some unbelievable storylines to the audience, others have just loved the bold steps that have been taken on Days of our Lives. One thing is for certain on this show is that viewers can never be sure what will happen next.

The show is best remembered for its super couple pairings that have created a stir in the soap opera industry. The Patch and Kayla pairing is one of the first super couples that started the craze among all the leading daytime dramas.
